This 3M Filtrete 4" Allergen Reduction Filter for Honeywell is a high performance air filter designed to fit Honeywell 20x20 whole house media air cleaners installed in your furnace or central air conditioner. The Filtrete 4" Allergen Reduction Filter contains electrostatically charged fibers, which enable this filter to attract and capture 97% of airborne allergens and particles, such as pollen, mold spores, and dust mite debris. When your furnace or central air conditioner fan is on, air circulates in your home and passes through the filter. This 3M Filtrete filter captures particles in two ways: mechanically and electrostatically. All filters perform mechanical filtration by providing a barrier that captures particles from the air passing through the filter. Filtrete filters also have electrostatically charged fibers that work like tiny magnets to attract and capture particles.

If you have a concern regarding whether this filter will fit in your system, you should check the actual dimensions of your filter housing or the filter you are replacing. This filter should fit in your system if the actual size of the filter is the same or very similar to the size of the filter you are replacing.

Recommended Replacement:

This filter should be replaced at least once every twelve months. If this filter remains in use longer than twelve months, it may begin to restrict airflow. In addition, certain conditions in your home will significantly add particles to the air, causing the filter to capture more particles than usual. This may shorten the filter life to less than twelve months, and reduce the effectiveness of the filter to capture particles. These conditions include: Dirty Ductwork, Construction Work, Sanding Projects, Pets, Burning Candles, Tobacco Smoke and Fireplace/Wood-Burning Stove Smoke. In addition, running your furnace or air conditioning fan continuously will help clean the air in your home, but could further shorten the life of the filter. So, if you use a Filtrete filter under these conditions, it could begin to restrict airflow, especially in energy efficient furnace and air conditioning systems. In these cases, change the filter more frequently.
