The 3M 8511 Particle Respirator Mask with Cool Flow Valve is government approved by the National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH) as an N95 class respirator. This latex-free mask has passed strict government performance standards including filtration efficiency testing to provide at least 95% filtration efficiency against microscopic particles such as dust, pollen, mold spores, other airborne allergens, microorganisms, and viruses. NOISH approved N95 masks are also recommended by the CDC as the recommended mask for reducing the spread of germs and viruses, including swine flu (H1N1 virus), bird flu or avian flu, SARS, and tuberculosis.
The patented one-way 3M Cool Flow exhalation valve creates a comfortable breathing environment by allowing exhaled heat and humidity from your breath to escape, which reduces moisture buildup inside the mask for cool, dry comfort during extended wear.
