IMPORTANT SAFETY

INSTRUCTIONS

READ AND SAVE THESE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THIS AIR PURIFIER

When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, including the following:

1.Read all instructions before operating the air purifier.

2.Place air purifier where it is not easily knocked over by persons in the household.

3.Always turn the air purifier to the OFF position and unplug from the wall outlet when not in use.

4.To disconnect the air purifier, first turn control to the OFF position, grip the plug and pull it from the wall outlet. Never pull by the cord.

5.Do not use any product with a damaged cord or plug or if product malfunctions, is dropped or damaged in any manner. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces.

6.Do not use air purifier outdoors.

7.Never use air purifier unless it is fully assembled.

8.Do not run power cord under carpets, and do not cover with throw rugs. Arrange cord such that it will not be tripped over.

9.Do not use air purifier where combustible gases or vapors are present.

10.Do not expose the air purifier to rain, or use near water, in a bathroom, laundry area or other damp location.

11.The air purifier must be used in its upright position.

12.Do not allow foreign objects to enter ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause electric shock or damage to the air purifier. Do not block air outlets or intakes.

13.Locate air purifier near the outlet and avoid using an extension cord.

14.This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of shock, this plug is intended to fit only one way in a polarized outlet. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. DO NOT attempt to defeat this safety feature.

15.A loose fit between the AC outlet (receptacle) and plug may cause overheating and a distortion of the plug. Contact a qualified electrician to replace loose or worn outlet.

16.Do not sit, stand or place heavy objects on the air purifier.

17.Disconnect power supply before servicing.

WARNING: To Reduce The Risk of Fire or Electric Shock, Do Not Use This Air Purifier With Any Solid-State Speed Control Device.

For Best Performance

We recommend that you operate your Honeywell air purifier 24 hours a day because indoor air can be quickly contaminated by activity in a room, infiltration of outside air, and from other sources of contamination. While all the air in a room will not be processed by the air purifier, the more air circulated through the filter, the more filtered air is returned to the room. Portable air purifiers will be much more effective in rooms where all doors and windows are closed.

Germ Reduction

True 99.97% HEPA Air Purifier with Germ Reduction

This air purifier model continually helps clean the air and helps reduce airborne bacteria, germs and mold spores by drawing air through the HEPA filter which traps and collects these particulates. In a test lab, the air purifiers were tested for reducing airborne pathogens that passed through the filter, and results indicated a bacterial reduction up to 100% with a mean reduction of 99.3%.

Set-up

Select a firm, level and flat location. For proper air flow, locate the unit at least 3 feet (1 meter) from any wall or furniture.

Due to the large volume of air drawn towards the air purifier, surrounding areas should be cleaned and/or vacuumed frequently to prevent dust buildup. If the unit is placed on light colored carpeting, a small mat or rug should be used to ease cleaning and prevent any permanent staining of carpeting. This is particularly important in homes with heavier contamination from smoking or fireplaces.

Locate pre-filter in the box and install before initial operation. Refer to “Removing/Changing the Filters” section for proper installation.

3

Operation

INSTALL PRE-FILTER BEFORE INITIAL OPERATION.

Refer to “Removing/Changing the Filters” section for proper installation.

To encourage operation on higher speeds, the Honeywell 18155 air purifier has been designed to operate very quietly and effectively without a cool exhaust draft. To operate, press the POWER button to HIGH speed for a few seconds, and then leave it on high for faster, more powerful air circulation, or move it to a lower setting as desired.

Intelli-CheckFilter Indicators

The Intelli-CheckFilter Indicators serve as a convenient guideline for when to clean the LifeTime HEPAPermanent Filter and when to replace the carbon pre-filter HRF-AP1. Depending upon your individual usage (environment and hours used), you may need to clean/replace the filters more or less frequently.

When the HEPA Filter Indicator Light turns on, it’s time to clean your HEPA filter. The Intelli-Checkreminder for when to clean the HEPA filter is intended as a guideline only as the performance of the filter media is dependent on the concentration of the contaminants to which the system is exposed. If there are sources of large amounts of contaminant generation (such as dust from woodworking or heavy smoking) the HEPA filter in your air purifier may need to be cleaned more often. For instructions on how to clean your HEPA filter, refer to section “Cleaning the LifeTime HEPAPermanent Filter” in this manual.

When your Pre-filter Indicator Light turns on, it’s time to replace your pre-filter. It should be replaced at least every 3 months. If there are heavy concentrations of odors, smoke, or large particles in the home, you may need to change the carbon pre-filter more often. For instructions on how to replace your pre-filter, refer to section “Removing/Changing the Filters” in this manual.

Note: We do not recommend operating the air purifier without the carbon pre-filter.

Cleaning the Lifetime HEPAPermanent Filter*

The LifeTime HEPAFilter is vacuum-able and should be cleaned regularly for optimum performance.

To Clean the HEPA Filter:

DO NOT USE WATER OR OTHER LIQUIDS TO CLEAN THE HEPA FILTER.

Turn the air purifier OFF and unplug from the wall outlet.

After removing the filter assembly from the air purifier (refer to section “Removing/Changing the Filters” in this manual), separate and remove the carbon pre-filter from the HEPA filter and place aside (or discard if pre-filter needs replacement).

To vacuum-clean the filter, hold the filter and run a vacuum cleaner with a nozzle or brush attachment along the filter to pick-up the dirt and particles (Fig.4). Repeat along the entire surface of the HEPA filter.

Do not penetrate the HEPA paper pleats with the vacuum attachment since tearing or puncturing can occur.

Note that the filter may still be discolored even after cleaning it. This is acceptable and will not affect performance.

After vacuuming the filter, wrap the pre-filter around the HEPA filter and place the whole assembly back into the internal chamber of the air purifier (see “Removing/Changing the Filters”)

You now need to reset the Intelli-CheckFilter Indicator. With the air purifier powered on, press and hold the appropriate filter indicator button for approximately 10 seconds until the light turns off (see Fig. 1).

Cleaning and Storage

We recommend that you clean the air purifier at least once a month and before extended storage. Use only a dry cloth to wipe external surfaces of the air purifier.

DO NOT USE WATER, WAX POLISH OR ANY CHEMICAL SOLUTION.

If you store your Honeywell HEPA air purifier for more than 30 days, we recommend:

Removing both the primary HEPA filter and the activated carbon pre-filter from the unit.

Discarding the pre-filter.

Wrapping the HEPA filter in an air-tight plastic bag or plastic wrap. Be sure that the filter is totally sealed.

To restore the air purifier to service, unwrap the HEPA filter, install a new activated carbon pre-filter, and reinstall both filters in the air purifier. See “Removing/Changing the Filters” section for proper installation.

Important – this air purifier has been designed to operate very quietly and effectively without a cool exhaust draft, especially on lower speeds.

My Air Purifier is starting to make noise and the air output is less. What’s wrong?

The filters may be dirty. High amounts of contaminates can block the pores in the filter and stop the air from moving through it. Clean the HEPA Filter.

How long should I run my Air Purifier?

For best results, you should operate your Air Purifier 24 hours a day. This unit will be more effective when doors and windows are closed.

Can I wash the filters?

No. Washing the filters will destroy them.
