Filtrete filters from 3M are high performance air filters featuring electrostatically charged fibers which increase the filter's ability to attract and capture several ranges of particle sizes. Each 3M Filtrete Filter is performance rated using an industry standard laboratory test which measures a filter's ability to capture several ranges of particle sizes over time. This test uses particle data between 0.3 and 1 micron in size to calculate a Microparticle Performance Rating (MPR). MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value and is a number from 1 to 12, produced from a test designed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). The MERV rating is intended to help people compare filters, and a higher MERV rating indicates better filter performance. The MPR rating represents the effectiveness of a filter at capturing the smallest airborne particles, which produces ratings which focuses on a filter's performance at capturing the smallest airborne particles measured in the ASHRAE test.
1" air filters in Advanced Allergen, Ultra-Allergen or Micro-Allergen
The Filtrete 1500 Advanced Allergen, Filtrete 1250 Ultra Allergen and the Filtrete 1000 Micro Allergen reduction filters outperform all other 1" non-electrostatic filters (including 3-month pleated filters, washable and reusable permanent filters, and fiberglass furnace filters). Each filter lasts up to 3 months under normal use, and captures allergens both large and small, including dust, lint, pollen, pet dander, mold spores, smoke, smog, bacteria and particles that can carry viruses. They are also approved for use by the American Lung Association. The Filtrete Advanced Allergen Filter is the newest and best quality Filtrete filter available, at 93% effectiveness. The Filtrete Ultra Allergen Filter has an ultra-fine pleated filter surface, which is 25% more efficient in filtration than the Micro Allergen Filter, and also provides for 15% better airflow than the Micro Allergen Filter. |
